I just read a compelling case of death by pancake! The story was about the winner of a pancake eating competition in Russian, who ate 43 pancakes on the trot and on collecting his trophy, collapsed and died. He seemingly didn't chew the last one properly and choked on the remainder left in his throat! Pancakes are stodge central so it beggars belief how the hell he managed to consume that quantity anyway!
Something else that sticks in my throat - pardon the pun - is the moral parallel that can be drawn to all those greedy bankers out there. Bite off more than you can chew, choke on the pancake! Reap the ill gotten gains, get your pension cut and a government bailout. Hey - where's the justice in that! Oh I forgot, the modern moral should be 'Money has no smell!'
The pic is of La Defense last Friday. It's France's hub of finance. Tellingly, France isn't as badly hit as the rest of the world - because it has a policy of restraint in food and financial matters.
